Republican Center for the Development and Support of Population Well-being "Taraqqiyot"

The Republican Center for the Development and Support of Population Well-being "Taraqqiyot," was established on the foundation of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project in the Fergana Valley. The project was implemented from 2004 to 2019 with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and was carried out by the International Centre for Water Cooperation. During this period, 32 water supply systems were constructed, providing more than 160,000 rural residents with access to safe drinking water and significantly improving sanitation and hygiene conditions.

Today, Taraqqiyot continues this work while expanding its activities through new socially significant initiatives that benefit rural communities — particularly those still facing persistent social and infrastructure challenges.

    How we support communities

Every project we implement is built on four fundamental principles.

    1

    Needs Assessment

We study the needs and priorities of each community to ensure accurate, evidence-based project planning

    2

    Community Engagement

We promote active participation of residents and initiative groups at every stage of the project — from planning to implementation and evaluation — ensuring that each step reflects the community's real needs.

    3

    Experienced Team

Our team brings together professionals with extensive expertise in water supply, social mobilization, and capacity building. Their knowledge enables effective project delivery and ensures long-term, sustainable results.

    4

    Training and Sustainable Development

Our specialists train local residents and community leaders in project management, sanitation, and environmental practices, creating the conditions for long-term sustainability and lasting impact.

    Strong Communities.

The WeEmpower project is dedicated to developing women's leadership and supporting community-level initiatives led by women. Participants receive training, mentorship, and hands-on experience in turning their ideas into action, building confidence and project management skills along the way.

We help women become active participants in decision-making processes, engage in social and economic initiatives, and create meaningful change in their communities. More than 200 women have already become beneficiaries of the project, leading their own initiatives and developing strong leadership and practical skills.
